Stand-up pouches can be categorized into about 5 main types:
1.Standard Stand-Up Pouches: With a typical four-sealed-edge design, these cannot be reclosed or reopened. They are generally used for industrial products.
2. Spouted Stand-Up Pouches: Featuring a spout, these can be reclosed and reopened, combining the stand-up pouch with a conventional bottle spout. They are often used for packaging liquids, gels, and semi-solids like beverages, body wash, shampoo, ketchup, cooking oil, and jellies.
3. Zipper Stand-Up Pouches: Also reclosable, these have limited sealability, so are not suited for liquids or volatile substances. They can be four-sealed-edge or three-sealed-edge, the latter directly using the zipper edge for sealing, and are usually used for lightweight solid products like candies, cookies, and jellies, but the four-sealed-edge versions are also used for heavier items like rice and cat litter.
4. Spouted Fitment Stand-Up Pouches: Combining the convenience of a spout with the cost-effectiveness of a standard pouch, these are one-time-use for beverages, jellies, and other liquid/gel/semi-solid products.
5. Shaped Stand-Up Pouches: Evolving from traditional pouch designs, these feature innovative shapes like waisted designs, bottom gussets, and handles, representing the main direction of stand-up pouch development.
